Training - Commercial Pilot Licence Course

(Effective May 1, 2011)

In order to be paid to fly, a pilot must hold a Commercial Pilot Licence. Before qualifying for Commercial Pilot Licence training, a candidate must first obtain a Private Pilot Licence.

Commercial Pilot Licence basic requirements:

a Private Pilot Licence with a minimum 100 hours of pilot-in-command time and a total of 200 hours logged flight time (which may include accumulated Private Pilot training flight time).
an additional minimum 65 hours of CPL flight instruction – 35 hours dual and 30 hours solo. This is in addition to any accumulated PPL flight time. The remainder of the required flight time can be made up as either dual or solo time as required.
80 hours of CPL Ground School
a Transport Canada CPL written exam to be completed prior to the CPL flight test.

Fuel surcharges will apply where the price of fuel exceeds the base rate.

Note: The breakdown of costs is based on the average CPL student completing his PPL in the average time. Buildup time required is dependent on hours currently accumulated. Additional books to prepare for the written examination could add $200 to the costs. Prices subject to change.
